Beginners 6 Week Course

This course is a great introduction to the core pottery skills and techniques needed for beginners to join our weekly regular sessions.

The sessions will run on 6 consecutive Sundays (unless there is a break for half term), from 11am – 2pm (3 hours). NB: November 9th 2025 course is from 12 – 3pm.

The cost is £360.00, which includes all materials and firings for the duration of the course.  

Course content: 

  •  Week 1 – Pinch Pots  Create a pinch pot and using different effects to decorate, using slips, underglazes, texturing tools and masking 
  •  Week 2 – Decorative Techniques Decorate tiles as a set or to play with different techniques such as stencilling, masking, sgraffito 
  •  Week 3 – Coil Pots Use the extruder to make your own coil points and build on your decorative techniques 
  •  Week 4 – Slab moulds Use a slab roller and make dishes using various moulds 
  •  Week 5 – Lidded box Hone your attention to detail making a lidded box, learn slab construction methods 
  •  Week 6 – Glazing An introduction to glazing the work you have created throughout the course

Kintsugi – Beginner Friendly

Come and learn the wonderful art of Kintsugi (the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics) using gold and bronze powder.
This ancient art form celebrates the imperfections of an object and is a wonderful way to repair all your much loved broken pottery giving it a new lease of life.
Kintsugi is similar to the Japanese philosophy of wabisabi which embraces the flaws and imperfections in life.

All materials are provided. Just bring an apron and your loved pot to mend.
